Alphabet Inc is venturing into the skies with the launch of its drone software for US users. The technology helps users to locate areas to fly with permission, including sensitive regions like airports. The services will combine Google’s mapping specializations, increasing its significance and positioning it as the most viable player in the market for tracking remote-controlled aircraft.

Users can begin using the Wing’s OpenSky application on Tuesday, which will be available for download on Google Play and Apple Inc.’s App Store.

The advent of drone technology is a notable innovation in the supply chain management sector. Automated aircraft are functional and help with various needs, like food delivery, product deliveries, cargo, military and disaster management requirements, etc.

Similarly, Wing’s futuristic drone delivery network, which will take a few years to implement, sees the current application as the first step toward the goal. In contrast, the drone delivery system needs increased civilian awareness and an effective traffic system.

According to a market report, by 2026,

The global market for commercial UAVs is expected to reach $30.9 billion by 2028, growing at a CAGR of 50.2%

Amazon.com, Inc., United Parcel Service of America, Inc., Drone Delivery Canada Corp., FedEx, and DHL International GmbH are leading players in the drone package delivery market.

Wing said that the two million registered drones in the US could safely share the sky with regulatory compliance. Further, drone usage in different segments, like commercial needs, emergency, security, delivery, etc., will improve through regulatory frameworks. By following the FAA safety rules, Wing’s OpenSky users can fly in crowded areas.
