The Health Ministry of Israel reported conclusions of advancement in the protection against COVID-19 infection, owing to the third dose of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. The report generated was at par with the distinct statistical report given by Israel’s Maccabi healthcare benefactor last week. Maccabi is one of the organizations, directing booster vaccines to keep in check the spread of the Delta coronavirus variant.

Israel’s Gertner Institute and KI Institute broke down the detailed statistics to conclude that the third booster facilitated four-fold protection after 10 days in people over 60 years of age, in comparison to the protection offered by two doses.

People who were 60 years old and above were predominantly more susceptible to COVID-19 when the vaccination drive began in 2020 December. This third jab of Pfizer booster is said to offer four to five times superior protection after 10 days of getting vaccinated. This serves as a severe breakthrough concerning lesser hospitalizations.

The Health Ministry of Israel has continually inferred that the immunity of senior citizens and the younger generation has been fast deteriorating. Of the vaccinated population, a large fraction of people who were falling ill were over 60 years of age and were already diagnosed with underlying health issues.

Israel initiated the vaccination drive for the third jab in people above the age of 60 on 30th July 2021. The eligible age limit fell to 40 last week. This included pregnant women, health care workers, and teachers of the above age limit. These third doses were administered only to people who received their second jab at least 5 months ago.

The United States of America, Canada, France, and Germany have announced booster campaigns to combat reduced protection offered by two doses of vaccine.

Isreal has been fighting the Delta variant since June. The nation presently ranks in one of the topmost positions in infection rates per capita. Out of the country’s 9.3 million population, close to 1.5 million people have already taken a third Pfizer booster dose of the vaccine.
