Berkshire Hathaway’s ‘Wind Prime’ renewable energy project would facilitate 50 megawatts of solar power and 2,042 megawatts of wind generation, Berkshire’s MidAmerican Energy Company stated on Wednesday. The company is also brainstorming to finance research on technology that could assist with carbon capture, energy storage, and minor nuclear reactors.

The project would reinforce Iowa’s already momentous wind market. In 2019, the state produced 41% of its comprehensive energy requirements from wind, a surge from merely 5.1% in 2006, as per the Iowa Utilities Board. Governor Kim Reynolds dubbed the Wind Prime project as an investment and promise on a whole new standard.

The firm estimates that the construction will be finished in the dusk of 2024 if the project receives approval.
