PLDT (Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company) includes a new-fangled hyper-scale data centre to its purpose-centric campus in Santa Rosa, Laguna, the eleventh such centre for the Filipino telecom provider.

The centre’s most recent extension, managed by their digital technology segment ePLDT, will enhance energy capacity by 100MW. This will be the foremost centre out of an array of hyper-scale data centres comprising a power capacity of 100MW over the medium term.

Dubbed VITRO Santa Rosa, the data centre will be fortified with the triple-route PLDT domestic fibre alongside telco fibre connectivity from other providers. The aim is to augment support for accessibility zones and points-of-presence of hyper-scalers, in addition to critical systems of business enterprises.

The centre will also allow the most solid interconnectivity for PLDT Group’s internet exchanges. In addition, it focuses on supporting other internet ecosystems in the Philippines, allowing partners such as cloud consumers and content providers to deliver a seamless experience for end-users.

Moreover, the hyper-scale centre is fabricated to be Tier-3 certified and Tier-4 ready, allowing consumers to exploit enhanced standards of reliability uptime. To minimise the risk of power failures, PLDT will build an on-site Meralco power substation linked to numerous other substations.

President and CEO of PLDT and Smart Communications, Alfredo S. Panlilio, stated that even before fabricating this hyper-scale data centre, the firm has been discoursing with several technology firms. This is because the demand for digital amenities is fast maturing. Panlilio indicated that PLDT has the facilities ready and continually extends their data centres to underpin demand and deliver all future requirements.

Panlilio added that VITRO Santa Rosa would also integrate sustainable practices in its design, supply, and facility operations that resonate with LEED standards, the global framework for effective, carbon-neutral, and cost-saving edifices.

The President and CEO of PLDT and Smart Communications highlighted that as the nation’s most prominent integrated telecom firm, with energy as a necessary commodity to provide their services, the firm was actively trailing innovations that inhibit its carbon emissions.

The group’s VITRO data centres, headed by ePLDT, presently operates the most extensive data centre network in the country, with more than ten centres throughout the Philippines. In addition, the most recent telco-neutral data centre demonstrates enhanced commitments and strategy to emerge as Asia Pacific’s digital centre for international hyper-scalers extending within the territory.

In addition, ePLDT has more than twenty years of experience and main certifications within the industry – the most recent being its recognition by Google Cloud as a “Premier Partner.” In the dawn of 2022, the provider also begot a felicitation for the title of “Partner Expertise” in numerous industries, including business and professional services, utilities, energy, and international public sector-education, and fiscal services.
