In a partnership with Coursera, one of the largest online learning platforms in the world, Khalifa University aims to make its rich content available to online users around the world.

Khalifa University is an internationally ranked research-intensive university based in Abu Dhabi. The university will launch six specialization courses on Coursera in Q3 of 2022. These courses will include Machine and Deep Learning Methods, Artificial Intelligence for executives, Data to decisions, and Introduction to Digital Design.

Aside from these courses, the University will also offer courses aimed at a broader population, including Arabic for beginners, and Online Course development processes. These courses have been custom-designed to align with the skill development programs of the UAE and Middle East region.

Dr. Ahmed Al Shoiabi, Senior VP at Khalifa University, said that Khalifa University was delighted to join hands with Coursera to equip learners around the world with essential digital skills required to contribute to the accelerating knowledge economy.

Coursera doubles the number of partners in Middle East

With the addition of Khalifa University, the online platform has doubled the number of university partners in the Middle East. These include King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Al Faisal University, and Jordan University of Science and Technology.

Currently, Coursera caters to over 5.5 million learners in the Middle East, offering a constantly expanding catalog of content, which includes over 2000 courses in Arabic. The right-to-left functionality makes navigating the site in Arabic a seamless and smooth experience. These features enhance readability for local learners across the website, including browsing, searching, grades, assessments, emails and transcripts.

Betty Vandenbosch, Chief Content Officer at the online platform said that learners in the region have taken to online learning at a faster pace than pre-pandemic levels. She said that over 1.4 million news users from the Middle East enrolled  in 2021. She added that by adding to their range of partnerships with pioneers in the region, Coursera aims to continue delivering relevant learning to all its users.
