Mastercard unveils new health and education campaign with support from UEFA foundation for children

Mastercard, with support from the UEFA foundation for children, has commenced a new fundraising campaign supporting ‘Save the children.’ The campaign’s objective is to help children in poverty realise their potential through the power of football, other sports, and educational activities, such as literacy and arts.

The UEFA Foundation for Children would support the initiative in different approaches including monitoring and evaluating the campaign’s impact.

The campaign would feature Lionel Messi specifying on how football gave him the prospects that many children lack these days in a new video. Messi is joined by some of the best footballers from the United Kingdom, Spain, and Italy to drive donations and provide for local children in each of their countries.

Liverpool FC captain and England midfielder Jordan Henderson heads up the United Kingdom’s programme, which intends to help disadvantaged children up to the age of sixteen gain access to free activities throughout the 2023 summer vacations. Nurturing young people to build life skills and participate in continuing learning and development is a core part of Save the Children’s work, and UK donations. This would move towards supporting six hundred families and more than 1,000 children in Manchester and North Tyneside.

Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini would unveil the campaign next week to his followers, seeking to raise funds to grant children and young adults in the country’s most disadvantaged neighbourhoods gain access to Punti Luce education centres. These centres promote open access to educational activities, a healthy diet and have a massive blend of sport and movement workshops, from football to volleyball and sailing activities that would otherwise be completely inaccessible to those living in underprivileged and flawed localities.

In Spain, international and Club Atletico de Madrid striker Alvaro Morata is driving donations to support about 220 children in poverty and at risk of societal exclusion. The holistic programme would provide psychological support and opportunities to play sport and study values and creativity.

Urs Kluser, general secretary at the UEFA Foundation for Children, said that this generous support from Mastercard would make a big difference for the beneficiaries of this programme. It would allow more children to grow up healthy, have access to education and sport, and get an opportunity to have a healthier future.

Jeannette Liendo, senior vice president for marketing and communications at Mastercard Europe said that at Mastercard, the company believe in doing well by doing good. It is vitally important for them that their technology and networks power sustainable impact. Liendo added that they are honoured of this initiative and aspires that their outstanding ambassadors would enable the right resources so that each child could accomplish their dreams.

Giancarla Pancione, marketing and fundraising director at Save the Children Italy, said that the number of children and adolescents in poverty across Europe significantly soared in the last decade. This partnership is an approach of joining forces and putting their most excellent reserves at their service, conducive to achieving their potential and build a brighter future.

Mastercard offers technology to the foundation

Mastercard is supporting the programmes by offering the technology to let people donate to the foundation, and coordinating donations made up to EUR300,000. The campaign shapes part of Mastercard’s Cause Enablement work, over which it is altering the digital donation world to make it simpler for charities to attach donors to foundations and make it as seamless as possible for everyone.

The donation widgets will be accessible through links from the ambassador, Mastercard and partner social media channels, as well as through ad banners on UEFA.com and Priceless.com. Furthermore, donations will be carried through purchases made on the official UEFA Club Competitions Online Store on UEFA.com.
