Qatar Tourism commemorates new visitor record in 2022

Qatar Tourism has announced that the number of visitors to the state increased to a record breaking 151,000 visitors in July, the largest number of arrivals during a summer month since 2017 and representing a 297% increase year-on-year (YoY).

The State of Qatar has obtained 10 award nominations including Middle East’s leading destination at this year’s Middle East ceremony of the World Travel Awards which is being organised on the 18th of this month in Jordan.

The State has also updated its preventive measures for Covid-19, making travel easier for incoming travellers planning to pay a visit for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 in November, eliminating its red travel-ban list and mask mandate. Visitors to the state ought to produce a negative PCR test result, valid for 48 hours, or a negative rapid antigen test result, valid for 24 hours.

Qatar’s vast portfolio of properties

The news appears in the wake of the unveiling of Qatar Tourism’s new stopover campaign featuring David Beckham, as the country prepares to receive 1.2 million visitors for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 later in the year. Qatar is adding up 105 new hotels and serviced apartments to its now vast portfolio of properties. New hotels comprise of the newly opened Pullman Doha West Bay and The Double Tree by Hilton Downtown Hotel that opened in August this year. The Katara Hills LXR Hotels & Resorts with 15 luxury villas each with private pools and The Outpost Al Barari would be opening in October and November respectively.
