Google’s Pixel 7 and 7 pro comes with a more reasonable price range than the dominant companies of the mobile markets

Google unveils its new range of pixel phones and watches on Thursday and offers the devices at a much lesser price than the dominant tech companies Apple and Samsung Electronics Co. The new pixel phones deliver enhanced features including improved voice and camera features and reintroducing the facial recognition feature that enables the users to unlock the devices as it looks forward to competing with major technology production company duo like Apple and Samsung.

Pixel 7 and 7 Pro come with a more reasonable price range than the dominant companies of the mobile markets, available at $599 and $ 899 respectively. Along with the introduction of the new range, Google also introduced the second generation of its in-house Tensor chip. The latest 6.7-inch Pro version has enhanced features including improved memory, an additional zoom camera, and a better display compared to the 6.3-inch Pixel 7.

Pixel phones that are released annually become a platform to demonstrate the company’s latest software and artificial intelligence-based services such as Google Assistant. These improvements made in the software establish how the company’s device-making partners will best use its operating systems. Google maintains its development of hardware, which is sold in fewer numbers, in part as insurance against missteps by Samsung, which is the only plausible rival to Apple in the US.

Apple’s iPhone led the 52% lineup in the North American market in the second quarter while Pixel had only 2% but the firm later commented ahead of its launch event on Thursday in New York that Google is currently the fastest-growing smartphone developer.  Google AI turns up in the upgraded language processing abilities in its latest software. The new Pixel incorporates advanced features like the transcriptions being added to audio messages in the messaging app and the recorder app for voice memos can now spontaneously label different speakers in transcriptions.

Google’s added smartphone upgrades this year is an increased battery life of 72 hours on low-power mode from the previous year’s 48 hours. Pixel 7 pro has three rear cameras including a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens with the capability to take macro shots and a 48-megapixel telephoto lens with 5X optical zoom. The new Pixel smartphones can record 4k videos at 60 frames per second. The standard model also has the macro camera but does not have the zoom feature and has a slower 90Hz screen compared to the 120Hz display of the new Pixel pro.

Both Pixel and Pixel Pro see the coming back of the facial recognition feature like most advanced smartphones from other companies, which was taken away from the Pixel line with the fifth-generation model in the year 2020. Google also includes the cinematic blur mode in its Pixel range which is similar to the infamous iPhone 13 feature that was released last year.

Along with the introduction of the new range of Pixel phones, Google also launched Pixel watches priced at $ 349 and becomes the first smartwatch from the company to have the Pixel name. This new launch also undercuts the latest generation Apple smartwatches which start from $399. Google smartwatches will be equipped with an onboard app store, Fitbit health sensor, workout services, and google wallet for mobile payments. Google could diversify its supply chain as it has expanded into various categories including security systems, smart speakers, and wearables, and could grow exponentially if the company expands into robots and AR/VR

The watches will have 24-hour battery life and comes in models with and without cellular connectivity that can be used according to the customer’s convenience. Google smartwatches will be available from October 13 along with the new phones.  The long-term feasibility of the Pixel range is much discussed as tech companies including Google are focused on controlling its cost and streamlining its production.

In the event on Thursday google also hinted at more details about the company’s new Pixel tablet which was announced at the company’s I/O developer conference in May. Rose Yao, vice president of product management says that the tablet will have Google’s Tensor G2 chip similar to Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. She also added that it will be made from 100% percent recycled aluminum and will have a charging speaker dock that magnetically attaches to the back of the device. When the pixel tablet is docked, it will act as a Nest Hub, which will allow people to control their smart home with google assistant.
