GITEX Global 2022: The world’s largest tech show opens in Dubai

GITEX Global 2022: The world’s largest tech show opens in Dubai

The 42nd edition of GITEX Global features major technology players and covers various sectors

GITEX Global 2022, the world’s largest tech show officially began with the inauguration by H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC). The 42nd edition of GITEX Global features major technology players and covers various sectors including small cities, data economy, mobility, cybersecurity, telecoms, and healthcare. The tech show brings together more than 4000 tech companies and around 100,000 business connections from 90 countries. The show is spread across two million square feet of exhibition space at the Dubai World Trade Center with 26 sold-out halls.

The tech show will be held from 10-14th October 2022 congregating more than 5000 leaders and innovators from startups and tech powerhouses.  H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed toured the show along with other dignitaries including Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security, UAE Government, Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Dubai World Trade Centre Authority (DWTCA) and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism. The one-of-its-kind event is all set to have visitors from more than 150 countries with 100,000 participants.

The event will be home to 35 unicorns looking forward to developing in one of the world’s largest markets making it the biggest unicorn meetup of the year in Dubai. GITEX Global’s seven experience ecosystems will assist in exploring the various aspects of the digital including North Star Dubai, which brings together 1000 startups with 600 investors along with Fintech Surge, Marketing Mania, Future Blockchain Summit, Ai Everything, and two new events platform, X-VERSE and Global DevSlam.

H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed states that Dubai’s profile as a hub for innovation, enterprise, networking, and knowledge sharing in the international technology industry, is ensured by the record global participation in its 42nd edition. This is a position it has built through focused investments in the last decades. Dubai’s government and its leaders have recognized the importance of technological advancement and its role in determining leadership and competitiveness in the future. Focusing on this vision Dubai developed the best technological infrastructure along with building strong partnerships with companies that lead innovation in the sector to catalyze development.

Deputy Ruler of Dubai further adds that the 42nd GITEX Global, which is the largest ever depicts Dubai’s position as leading innovation and value creation in the sector. The current edition features a multiplicity of expertise that showcases the global industry’s current dynamism as well as its future potential. The event has drawn a strong response from the international technology community which adds to Dubai’s growth as a city that has a key role in shaping the future of the industry.

The event features the world’s most innovative companies including Microsoft, Avaya, Honeywell, IBM, Dell Technologies, Ericsson, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, e&, Lenovo, Cisco, and Huawei, which is GITEX GLOBAL’s Diamond Sponsor. Emirates NBD and telecom giant e& are among the UAE companies looking to advance their digital initiatives.

X-VERSE, sponsored by TMRW Foundation in collaboration with Decentraland, is the world’s largest curated Web3.0 immersive experience which brings the virtual world to the physical world with 28 spectacular world premieres. Global DevSlam will host the biggest international meetup for the developer community featuring PyCon MEA- the world’s largest python conference along with hackathons and certified coding workshops.

GITEX provides 250 government entities a platform for their latest public-private partnerships and digital projects, including the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Abu Dhabi Digital Authority, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Dubai Police, and Digital Dubai.
