The MENA region’s edtech and teen banking platform Cashee, has partnered with Visa to launch a series of workshops in schools in the UAE, in an effort to equip educators with a curriculum to enhance the financial literacy of their students.

The proposed new workshops will coincide with the participation of Visa in the 10th Global Money Week, which is an annual initiative powered by the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). In association with participating companies, the organization aims to raise awareness and financial literacy of young people around the world.

The theme of this years’ Global Money Week is ‘Build your future, Be smart about money’. Visa is said to have developed a detailed curriculum to empower students with forward-thinking skills that address the rapidly evolving and innovative financial sector.

The program will be available for children of all age groups, and will cover the fundamentals of finance, including aspects like budgeting, saving, responsible spending and the judicious use of credit.

Carl Manlan, VP of Visa, said that Visa’s commitment to financial literacy for everyone, everywhere has spanned more than two decades, and during that time, they have learnt that addressing the gap in knowledge cannot be the sole responsibility of educators.

Co-founder and CEO of Cashee, Smeetha Ghosh, said that Cashee was honored to be able to participate in the Global Money Week, and that their goal for the week was to reach as many children in as many schools as possible.

The workshops are augmented by Visa’s existing financial literacy programs, including the award-winning Practical Money Skills and MyMoneySkills, as well as online games such as Financial Football, and Cash Puzzler.
