Emirates’ implementation of biometric recognition and using the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) pre-populated biometric database helps to identify passengers at points in the airport.

Emirate airlines offer international travelers the prospect to hasten up the airport experience by consenting to the use of biometric data in collaboration with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA). The agreement between the parties was signed by the Director General of GDRFA, His Excellency Lieutenant General Mohamed Ahmed Al Marri, and the Chief Operating Officer of Emirates, Adel Al Redha.

The implementation of biometric recognition and using the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) pre-populated biometric database helps to identify passengers at points in the airport, and the travelers will be able to commute easily through the Dubai International Airport without any delays in Terminal 3 check-in, boarding, lounges, and immigration as the AI systems will recognize the passenger’s unique features, identify them and link it to their respective passports for verification. International passengers will now be able to benefit from the service in the year 2023 by providing consent in the Emirates app, at Emirates check-in desks, or at self-check-in kiosks.

Emirates home check-in is a service that is available in Dubai and Sharjah which is accomplished by DUBZ agents, while the check-in kiosks help travelers complete the check-in process without using a mobile phone.

UAE residents and GCC nationals are already using the facility provided by the company. His Excellency Lieutenant General Mohamed Ahmed Al Marri states that the country is one of the most aspirational destinations in the world and the city saw the arrival of more than 8miilion tourists in the year 2022. “We continue to support our key partners with best-in-class services as we strive for excellence, and innovation in positioning Dubai as the world’s leading business hub and tourism destination,” says His Excellency Lieutenant General Mohamed Ahmed Al Marri.

The partnership between GDRFA and Emirates will improve the focused travel experience which is innovative and digitally enhanced making the travel experience of Dubai visitors much more fulfilling. The agreement also improves the travel passenger traffic procedure at Dubai International Airport Terminal 3 and promises a much more efficient and faster airport experience for travelers, especially for the ones commuting through connecting flights along with passengers who arrive at Dubai as their final destination point.

COO of Emirates Adel Al Redha states that the firm continually tries to improve the experience of the customers and the support from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs will improve the coordination, cooperation and communication along with adding value to the services of the firm and “allow the international passengers to fly better”. By the year 2023, Emirates passengers will be able to click the consent to biometric data through the official app of the company and this will allow the passengers to take advantage of a swift experience at various points at Dubai Airport and save passengers time. The Check-in, Boarding, Immigration, and lounges will all be equipped with biometric facilities.
