FedEx Express Corp, a subsidiary of FedEx, and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, announced a new association with eBay, a leading e-commerce platform for fast-growing and recognised brands globally. As a result, eBay sellers in the Asia Pacific can now sign up for a FedEx account and enter the full spectrum of the latter’s e-commerce delivery service options at competitive rates.

The FedEx and eBay collab

Marketplace sales report 67% of e-commerce globally, with the Asia Pacific e-commerce market projected to grow by about 14% annually, reaching USD 352.68 trillion by 2030. Amidst booming e-commerce in the region, driven by consumers’ changing behaviours toward shopping online accelerated by the pandemic, this collaboration will help drive e-merchants, especially for small business owners.

Through this collaboration, eBay sellers can offer their customers a more premium delivery experience powered by the logistics firm’s shipping solutions. Critical benefits under the current strategic program comprise the following –

  • Viable rates: eBay sellers will obtain reasonable discount prices through the logistics firm’s services.
  • Higher shipping capabilities: FedEx offers eBay sellers various services critical for cross-border e-commerce, including Electronic Trade Documents. Home Delivery, which now delivers seven days a week, will carry a portfolio of flexible and straightforward returns options. In addition, the Hold-at-Location allows customers to have their packages delivered conveniently and securely to various pharmacies, grocery stores, and office locations.
  • Directly Connectivity: eBay sellers will receive their own FedEx account to use any shipping solution from the massive portfolio that the latter provides. Furthermore, eBay sellers can connect to the logistics firm directly for pickups and billing questions, as well as to order shipping forms or other delivery supplies, reroute packages and manage their My FedEx Rewards account.

Kawal Preet, president of Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa (AMEA) at FedEx Express, stated that E-commerce had become the new growth engine behind the APAC economy. Logistics services providers like the firm, consequently play a critical role in helping e-commerce businesses deliver seamless customer experiences from online to the physical world. They were thrilled about this collaboration with eBay, enabling more accessible market access through their international logistics services. In addition, by providing global shipping solutions at highly competitive rates, they are helping eBay sellers make the most out of their premium services and products as they continue expanding overseas.

The collaboration replicates the latest effort to strengthen the logistics service provider’s leadership in the e-commerce ecosystem over strategic partnerships with leading marketplaces and technology providers. As a result, FedEx has unified with more than 17 marketplace providers and BigCommerce. This open SaaS e-commerce platform allows hundreds of thousands of e-tailers across the Asia Pacific to directly access FedEx services using their FedEx account number to attain shipments and grow their cross-border e-commerce business to date.
