The new electric Cadillac Lyriq EV will make its presence felt in dealer showrooms in early 2022.

According to the global vice president at Cadillac Rory Harvey, the new line-up of SUVs and electric cars will start the General Motors luxury brand’s aim of going fully electric by 2030 with Lyriq. The Lyriq will be priced at $60,000 and will market with GM’s next-gen EV platform, called Ultrium.

New vehicles from Cadillac will also lack internal combustion engines (ICE). Additionally, Cadillac aims at boosting GM’s strategy by offering EVs by 2035. This includes a $27 billion investment plan in autonomous and electric vehicles, alongside 30 brand-new EVs by 2025.

The push to make Lyriq hit the shelves is to kick-start the selling of only zero-emission vehicles by 2035. Earlier, GM had announced a Chevrolet electric pickup and a battery plant in Tennessee.

As per General Motors, most of the Cadillac cars will be all-electric by 2030. Cadillac will not spend money on “mid-cycle refreshes”, the updates for the current line-up of vehicles already on sale.
