The State Bank of Pakistan will unveil a new-fangled initiative, dubbed Asaan Mobile Account (AMA) on 13th December 2021 (Monday).

State Bank of Pakistan’s Asaan Mobile Account

In a press release, the State Bank of Pakistan initiative has been established under the National Financial Inclusion Strategy focussed on facilitating the consumers for remote account opening under branchless banking.

The initiative has been established under the National Inclusion Strategy with the objective to bring enhanced ease in remote account opening under branchless banking in the State Bank of Pakistan. This translated that the consumers would be able to open and operate their bank accounts within the cosiness of their homes, devoid of having to visit the branches, with any of the partaking branchless banking providers.

The solution has been enhanced via the collaboration of the State Bank of Pakistan, National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), thirteen Branchless Banking Providers, Virtual Remittance Gateway (VRG), and all Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs).

For the AMA, the branchless banking providers and cellular mobile operators are partnering to facilitate an interoperable portal, permitting any Pakistani to open an account with a bank.

The AMA will play a vital role in reaching out to the low-income segments that do not possess accessibility to the internet. Moreover, the AMA will be a flawless channel to onboard women consumer segments as well.
