In a joint press between #Japan and #Singapore’s foreign ministers, the two nations have decided to begin the reciprocal green lane for official and business travel, starting September 18.

In the joint press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this framework is first for Japan to restore connectivity with another nation amid the coronavirus pandemic.

With the help of Business Track arrangement that allows ease of #cross-border travel, safe resumption for short-term business travellers will be ensured. Notably, the setting up of a special “residence track” in September are also in talks for work pass holders.

Safeguarding the general public health interest, several health protocols are to be followed, including pre-departure and post-arrival testing in the receiving nation. Additionally, there will be a controlled schedule for self-isolation for the first two weeks. Arrangements regarding the operational details and application process will be available on Singapore’s SafeTravel and the website of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs from September 18.

While Singapore has allowed visitors from five nations, Japan has officially permitted long-term residents and expatriates from the countries Thailand, Myanmar, Taiwan, Cambodia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Laos.
