Regal Entertainment Group has encouraged re-openings of US theaters on April 2, according to a report.

The release of Warner Bros’s Godzilla vs Kong on April 2 will be followed by New Line’s release of Mortal Kombat on April 16.

Notably, Warner Bros commented last December to release films in 2021 in theatres and on its streaming platform HBO Max. The pent-up demand for going out to movies as shutdowns loosen is closely related to the semblance of normalcy by the release of most-coveted projects this year.

Cineworld’s multi-year deal with Warner Bros will enable the studio films in the US cinemas with 45 days exclusivity in 2022. The deal is the new testament to thriving streaming platforms and cinema post-pandemic.

In a statement, Chief Executive of Cineworld Mooky Greidinger said that the agreement with Warner Bros shows the studio’s commitment to the theatrical business and acts as a milestone in their 100-year relationship. The increase in theatre capacity to 50% or more across the US states can be profitable for Cineworld, he added.

The coronavirus pandemic had resulted in the closing of 127 Cineworld salons in the UK and 536 Regal theatres in the US. With the deployment of vaccines in the US and UK, the re-openings will see daylight soon.
