AXIS Insurance, the insurance business faction of AXIS Capital Holdings Limited, announced on 6th October 2021 about the three new underwriter appointments made inside its Capital Risk Solutions team. The appointments will be operative instantly and will aid in expanding the firm’s London emphasis whilst, uniquely initiating investments in the APAC region.

AXIS Insurance’s new Capital Risk Solutions underwriter appointments

Richard Jelf and Jim Parker, Senior Underwriters, have displaced from Singapore and Bermuda to London. They will target the enhancement of the aircraft finance and project finance portfolio and also reinforce the prevalent relationship and drive business enhancement.

The Singaporean unit will gain Shuohan Dai as a Senior Underwriter, who will work closely with the prevalent teams to supervise the underwriting activities in Capital Risk Solutions of APAC.

Michael Silas, the Head of Capital Risk Solutions at AXIS Insurance, stated that Richard and Jim’s vast knowledge of credit risk insurance coupled with their experience to facilitate strong broker relationships will enable AXIS Insurance to enhance the extension of the firm’s credit risk insurance business in London. All this whilst continually delivering excellent service to the AXIS Insurance clients, Silas said.

Silas also pointed out that their presence in London resonates better with AXIS Insurance’s underwriting occurrence owing to the increasing requests for project finance loan protection. This will prove to be a crucial part of the firm’s underwriting proficiency and a demo of AXIS Insurance’s constant commitment to aid the energy transition to renewable energy sources, which is the foundational element of the firm’s project finance portfolio.

Silas also expressed his delight to welcome Shuohan to the Capital Risk Solutions team. Shuohan’s vast experience in European banking and APAC credit risk underwriting, along with her exceptional repute in the area make her a treasured integration to the global Capital Risk Solutions underwriting team, he said.

Jim Parker shifts to the AXIS London office after living in Bermuda for 12 years. Richard Jelf will relocate to London after 4 years in AXIS Singapore. Both Mr. Parker and Mr. Jelf will report to the Capital Risk Solutions Lead Underwriter, Mark Hardwood, who is based in London.

Ms. Shuohan Dai was earlier a Senior Commercial Underwriter for Euler Hermes. She will be reporting to Mr. Silas.
