The National Health Insurance Company, Daman has entered into an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Ewaa, the Abu Dhabi Centre for Sheltering and Humanitarian Care, to provide healthcare services for all beneficiaries residing at Ewaa’s shelters, and to enhance cooperation for the protection of human rights.

The MoU is aimed at consolidating the efforts of the two entities to support the overall well-being of the community, especially those in need of immediate aid and healthcare. The agreement will strengthen the partnership between Daman and Ewaa, and is part of Daman’s social responsibility initiatives. The entities aim to build and empower the community, and provide protection to its members from the risk of violence.

Daman to provide free, full healthcare coverage to Ewaa beneficiaries

Daman will provide full healthcare coverage free of charge to victims under the care of Ewaa to cover their healthcare needs. This is part of the shared commitment of Daman and Ewaa to provide healthcare access to victims of domestic violence and human traficking.

Her Excellency Sarah Shuhail, Director-General of Ewaa, said that the MoU was a culmination of the organization’s long-term partnership with Daman, which has had a massive impact on transforming beneficiaries from victims, to empowered individuals in their respective communities. Her Excellency also said that over the years, Daman has complemented the values of Ewaa, which ensured that beneficiaries have the highest levels of privacy and empowerment.

Her Excellency went on to say that the strategic goals of the centre have focused on establishing a network of complementary services that include partners at a local, regional, and international level. These partners would provide sustainable and integrated services with the highest level of empowerment and care to victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. She added that the healthcare services provided by Daman will play a vital role in the social and psychological rehabilitation of victims under their care.

CEO of the National Health Insurance Company, Daman, Hamad Al Mehyas, said that the signing of the MoU reflects the organisation’s efforts to provide quality healthcare coverage of the highest standards to all its members across the country. He said that the agreement was aligned with the commitment of the organisation as a socially responsible company that supports national efforts to ensure healthcare accessibility for all who require it.

The CEO of Daman added that the company was proud of its relationship with Ewaa, which commenced in 2014, and the work by the two entities to support the most vulnerable members of society. He added that as part of the partnership, the company will continue to support victims in alignment with their shared objective to positively contribute to a cohesive society that embraces all its members.

The MoU with Ewaa is part of the social responsibility initiatives undertaken by Daman, which had previously included an initiative to provide comprehensive insurance plans to frontline heroes from the medical community. Daman had also entered into a partnership with the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an to support the community at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Earlier this year, Daman committed to supporting the World Early Childhood Development Movement, led by Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority.

The social efforts of the company have led to it being recognised as one of the most parent-friendly workplaces in Abu Dhabi, and has been ranked by LinkedIn as one of the most employee-empowering organizations in the UAE.
