Snap Inc. signs MoU with Qatar’s Government Communications office (GCO) to launch a new office in Doha

Snap Inc. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State of Qatar’s Government Communications Office (GCO) to launch a new office in Doha, expanding its footprint in the Middle East/North Africa (MENA) region.

This step is a portion of Snap’s efforts to strengthen and create opportunities for its highly engaged community in Qatar, as well as work closely with businesses and local partners, eventually contributing to Qatar’s growing and vibrant digital environment.

The creator’s economy in Qatar has witnessed a significant growth over the past two years with the breakthrough of numerous local creators and Arab expats. Snap is building on these steps forward and discovers a clear-cut opportunity to elevate the voices of Qatar’s creator ecosystem, strengthen their narratives and support their constant innovation.

Hussein Freijeh, General Manager of Snap Inc. in the Middle East said that Snapchat has a highly engaged community in Qatar and the company is delighted to announce their expansion in MENA with the launching of a new office in Doha, which reflects their support to Qatar’s growing and vibrant digital environment. This would also allow them to serve their local community of Snapchat users, creators, and organizations, and invest in creator partnerships to generate much further prospects for digital transformation in Qatar.

His Excellency Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani, Director of the Government Communications Office stated that the team is delighted to welcome Snap Inc to Qatar and sees ahead to view the Snap community transform.

This new office and strategic partnership will support them achieve one of the most vibrant and digitally enabled knowledge economies in the region and will allow their residents to continue to engage with dynamic technology for commercial and creative purposes.

Snap Inc’s guidance in MENA will be overseeing the business office management and is planning to appoint a team to operate the businesses locally.
