1. Overview
The Brief is our email newsletter, delivering business & finance analysis and the stories we think matter. This policy explains how it works and how we handle your email address. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy.
2. Sign-up & consent
You receive The Brief only if you subscribe by entering your email in one of our sign-up forms. We send it on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. We do not add people who have not opted in, and we do not buy email lists.
3. What we send & how often
We send editorial round-ups and occasional updates about the magazine, the Awards and our coverage. We aim to keep frequency reasonable and relevant, and we may include clearly labelled sponsor messages that help fund our journalism.
4. Your data
We use your email address to send the newsletter and to understand aggregate engagement (such as whether campaigns are opened) so we can improve it. We do not sell your address. Emails are delivered through an email service provider acting on our behalf.
5. Unsubscribing & preferences
Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time — it takes effect promptly. You can also ask us to remove your details via our Contact page.
6. Our no-spam commitment
We will never send unsolicited bulk email, sell your address, or make it hard to leave. We comply with applicable email and privacy laws, including UK GDPR and PECR.
7. Security & contact
We take reasonable measures to protect subscriber data. We will never ask for passwords, payment card numbers or crypto transfers by email — see our Official Domains page. Questions? Use our Contact page.
